Safety Systems
Vehicles have changed dramatically in the last decade.
- Some vehicle manufacturers have “Gateways” (firewalls) to protect someone else from “hacking” the vehicle’s computer systems and driving your vehicle.
- Engines and transmissions are much more sophisticated.
- Vehicles have radar & camera systems to reduce accidents
- Repair shops that have not kept up with their education & new equipment purchases will not be able to diagnose and repair these modern vehicles.
When an accident occurs or a repair is performed, these systems need to be recalibrated, using new equipment specifically designated to accomplish that, here are some of the more common vehicle safety systems on modern vehicles
- Lane Departure Warning
- Lane Change Assist
- Steering Assist or Lane Centering Assist
- Automatic Emergency Steering
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Blind Side Alert
- 360-Degree View
- Electronic Stability Control
- Forward Collision Warning
- Anti-Lock Brake System
- Automatic Crash Notification
- Automatic High-Beam Headlights
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Driver Monitoring/Drowsiness Detection
- Automatic Windshield Wipers
- Rear Seat Occupant Alert
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Automatic Parking
Since 2018 vehicles have “Gateways” (firewalls) to protect you from someone else from “HACKING” your vehicle’s computer system and take over your vehicle.
Vehicle “Gateways” (firewalls)
- Falls Auto Tech has the knowledge and new scan tools (laptops) to navigate beyond the “Gateway” (firewall) to diagnose your vehicle’s onboard computer systems.
When scan tools aren’t definitive enough, we use Lab Scopes to correctly diagnose the problem the first time.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (A.D.A.S)
- (ADAS) has been on vehicles in one form or another for over a decade. ADAS is a system of Modules, Sensors, Radar, and Cameras to detect nearby obstacles or driver errors and respond accordingly.
- Falls Auto Tech has the ADAS Calibration Equipment to recalibrate the Radar and Cameras after a repair or accident.
- Sensor, radar, and ADAS calibration after Falls Auto Tech has the ADAS Calibration Equipment to recalibrate the Radar and Cameras after a repair or accident.

Engine and Transmission
- Variable valve timing, the engine timing changes as the vehicle speed and or load changes
- Displacement on demand, under lesser demand some cylinders are disabled to increase gas mileage and lower emissions
- For direct fuel injection, the fuel injector placement was changed from the intake manifold to inside the cylinder, next to the spark plug. At high mileage, this has resulted in carbon deposits causing engine misfires
Wheel Alignment
Vehicle manufacturers make wheel alignment specification changes so that the forward-facing ADAS Radar or Cameracan more accurately detects pedestrians, objects etc. Falls Auto Tech receives wheel alignment specification changes overnight, not years later when the software for the wheel alignment equipment is updated for next year’s vehicles

Air Conditioning
Modern vehicles use a different Freon named R1234yr and Falls Auto Tech has the new Air Conditioning equipment that’s required
Modern vehicle air conditioning systems hold much less Freon, therefore when recharging modern vehicles air conditioning systems, the equipment has to be substantially more accurate. We also have the new equipment required to locate a Freon leak.

Tire Changers & Wheel Balancers
Modern vehicles have much larger-sized tires. To avoid damage to the new tire and tire bead or the very expensive rims, new equipment is required. We have a new tire changer and wheel balancer to handle all the new tire sizes.
We have the new equipment to re-set Tire Pressure Monitors. You will know if a tire starts losing air pressure, which is especially important in cold weather
